December 2, 1963 Charlotte, NC
Cowboy Bob Ellis and Johnny Weaver won the Southern Tag Team Championship from Rip Hawk and Swede Hanson. In
early 1964 Cowboy Bob Ellis left for Florida. Some online title histories list Don Curtis teaming with Cowboy Bob Ellis to
defend the Southern Belts in Florida during 1964. The bottom line is that fans in Virginia and the Carolina's did not see the
title's again until May 24, 1965 when Aldo Bogni and Bronco Lubich won the belts from Eddie Graham and Sam Steamboat in
Charlotte, NC.
Eddie Graham and Sam Steamboat wearing the Southern Tag Team Titles they lost to
Aldo Bogni and Bronco Lubich. Wrestling Historian Michael Bauman was kind enough
to sell us this rare color photo. Thanks Michael!
